HP dv2614XT review

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 24 - 2007

I bought this HP dv2614XT about a week now and I am pretty happy with it. Here is a review of HP dv2614XT after a week of usage. This laptop is equip with:-

  • Core2Duo T5450 @ 1.67GHz
  • 2MB 2GB of DDR2 5300. Originally comes with 1GB
  • Geforce 8400M it is only 64mb of dedicated graphic card, but could share upto 384MB
  • Super Multi 8x DVD Writer Drive with Double Later Support
  • Wifi 4569 AGN (It is a ABG and Draft N, which is suitable for future expansion)
  • 1.3MP Web Camera
  • Windows Home Vista Premium
  • 14.1WXGA
  • 160GB Hard Drive
  • Remote Control (you can see pooping out of the picture) – Kinda cool but quite useless
  • Other free stuff such as the carrying case, optical mouse, microphone headset, notebook lock, notebook cooler and a black premium gift pack limited edition (which contain a mug, notebok, candle w/ cup holder, and a pretty sleek carrying case)

P9210346This laptop suited my preference as it is mobile unlike my previous dell laptop, I bought a 15″ laptop, it look great on the website, but when I received it, it is just like a brick, plus it comes with an adapter which is a brick. I think the whole bag must have weight more than 5kg with a mouse.

Here is some of the picture from the laptop.

Oh, I nearly forgot, a fingerprint reader comes with this model. It should be the cheapest in the market for this price with a fingerprint reader. This is useful because I am using this laptop for my work as well, and I would read my fingerprint rather than typing a password to log onto Window Vista

After a couple of trial run and tried installing game, this computer actually hang about twice already. I hope this is because of Windows Vista and not the laptop having some malfunction.

The scree is a little glossy, which makes it look great but at time when the back of your workspace is brighter than the front, you will face some reflection as you can see from the picture below with some reflection of my lights.

I bought them at a price of RM4130 on my credit card. Overall, I am happy with it as my budget is on the average side for this laptop.

PRO: Sleek design with remote control, 1.3MP Web Cam, Finger Print Reader, HP Quick Play panel at this average price laptop. Quite mobile. Well build design.

CONS: Comes with Window Vista which I am not prepared to use, I would prefer getting XP Media Center with Vista Upgrade, it is buggy and it hangs. It is a little pricey compare to some other brand. I kinda click on the Quick Play often when I refresh my page when pressing f5.

Yahoo! bought MyBlogLog

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 23 - 2007

I don’t usually go to mybloglog but as clear my cache for my browser from time to time, I had to log back onto MyBlogLog. I was finding it weird when it forward me to Yahoo! login screen when I clicked on sign in button on the top right corner.

It should be done a while ago, here is the latest logo of Yahoo! MyBlogLog.

News from Forbes mention that Yahoo did not mention the price that it was traded for, but should be well over 10 million. This is a great news as another man become millionaire by having a great internet service for bloggers.

Blogrush only brings high traffic blog more traffic

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 23 - 2007

Just like what had been said in my Blogrush post. Blogrush actually rushes more traffic to a higher traffic blog. This is because higher traffic tends to get more syndicate credit and more referral. They will end up having higher traffic.

I am not getting spam or multi level marketing on blogrush. but look at my stats, negative, I am still paying for my debt. CTR is quite low, very low.

I believe in a week time, this will be off my blog.

Google search engine market share increase

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 22 - 2007

It is interesting to see how Google grows. Seems like day by day and step by step, Google is conquering the knowledge of mankind. I would prefer competition, I always like competition because it means better service and competative pricing (not in the search engine sense).

From Hitwise,  the table below shows the market share of the main search engine. But if you see an article sourcing from ComScore, Google only gets 55.2% of the pie on July 07. That is a huge difference of 9.15%, which is due to different calculation method as ComScore puts eBay, Wikipedia, Amazon, Craigslist and other website.

Also, you would see that Microsoft gets 12.3%, which is kind of weird, because Hitwise only have 1.61% for other search engine provider for July 2007 and Microsoft only score 8.79%. Considering, that ComScore method shares the pie with more people at the same time.

New Adsense

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 22 - 2007

A while ago, Digital Forum posted a new advertisement feature from Adsense. This new advertisement format is combining text link with the normal adsense block advertisements. It seems that Google have officialy launch or this is still on beta. But currently, we have no control over this type of advertisement appearing. It would be good if we could choose as this type of advetisements may not be a good match for some templates.

This is what I found on my website. Notice that there is a “Show More” button on the bottom left corner.

The only question of every single publisher is, will you click on that?
