Adobe Share

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 11 - 2007

Adobe is trying out some file sharing program. They are currently having it in beta and you could subscribe to it already. As expected, it is fully flash based and you will have 1024mb of space (1GB). I am able to upload a picture, files or movie and use the embed code to post them from my blog. This is something useful.

Like any file sharing websites, you are able to do the follwing with Adobe Share:-

  • Send documents without email attachments.
  • Access your documents from anywhere.
  • View all the documents you have shared or received in one place.
  • Post a link to your document on a wiki or blog.
  • Embed a Flash® preview of your document on any website. – Sound good, but it is not available yet.
  • Limit access to a document to a list of recipients.

The good things is that Adobe is opening up for other developers to have Adobe Share embedded in different programs or websites. If you are a web developer, take a look at their Adobe Share API, maybe it will be plus to have this on your script / program.

Zude – Web Consolidation

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 11 - 2007

Zude is a new idea of Web Consilation. It groups together social communities (like friendster), feed browser, websurfing, personal homepage, file sharing and a lot more functions.

Although, it may be complicated for someone to have their homepage, Zude is provide this opportunity for anyone to have their homepage designed by just using the drag and drop method.

The script that they are using is pretty good, everything is customizable. Including the width and height of every block. You are also able to add more object such as Feed Reader, Websites (you can see that riceblogger is on the bottom left corner), Guestbook, Notes, Friends Circle, Share Contacts and should have more to come.

Check out a page that I have made.

Not bad for a 5 minutes job.

Google acquires Jaiku

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 10 - 2007

Google have acquires another good piece of the World Wide Web, Jaiku. Jaiku is just another microblogging platform just like twitter and pownce. Also, I have researched that Jaiku improves your search engine result when you include your feed and it will be listed at search engine.

Although they have pros and cons of their own, I am pretty happy with Jaiku because of its function and its simplicity. Jaiku will be strong and Google sees that. There is lots of potential from Jaiku and they have release their API, and I was expecting more useful functions available at Jaiku. Now that Google have acuires Jaiku, I hope that it does not delay the introduction of new and better function.

As you can see from the logo below, Google loves Jaiku which is obtain from Jaiku’s Google’s FAQ.

This was the email I received email and was pretty shock to see that it is sold so fast to Google. The content of the email:-

Wonderful Jaiku users,

Exciting news, Jaiku is joining Google!

While its too soon to comment on specific plans, we look forward to working with our new friends at Google over the coming months to expand in ways we hope you’ll find interesting and useful. Our engineers are excited to be working together and enthusiastic developers lead to great innovation. We look forward to accomplishing great things together.

In order to focus on innovation instead of scaling, we have decided to close new user sign-ups for now. But fear not! All our Jaiku services will stay running the way you are used to and you will continue to be able to invite your friends to Jaiku.

We have put together a quick Q&A about the acquisition at http://jaiku.com/help/google

Jyri Engestrom and Petteri Koponen, Jaiku Founders

The bad thing from the acusition

Now Jaiku requires an invitation to join. But if you drop me a comment, I would be glad to invite you to join the newly branded Jaiku. Get Jaiku Invites Now.

YouTube be added to Google Adsense

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 9 - 2007

Google did not buy YouTube for USD1.65million for nothing. Google first step in monetizing YouTube by combining it with Google Adsense and allowing web publisher to deliver ad-supported video clips from YouTube.

Web publishers that participate in Google’s AdSense ad distribution network will now be able to make money by offering ad-supported video clips from Google’s YouTube video sharing site.

For advertisers, the program opens their video-based ads for distribution across the AdSense network, instead of being limited to the YouTube site. Meanwhile, video producers get a chance to generate revenue from their clips.

The video clips will be delivered within “a customized, embedded player that’s ad supported,” Google announced on Tuesday.

Not all YouTube videos are fodder for the program. Google is working with specific video producers that have agreed to participate, including TV Guide Broadband, Expert Village, and Ford Models, the company said.

Google will deliver ads that are related to both the content of the clip and of the Web site. Ads will appear as banners on top of the video window, as well as in text format on the bottom of the clip.

Google will share revenue from the ads with the video owners and with the site publishers. The ads are available now in the U.S. for English-language Web sites.

It is only available for U.S.A English Language Website only, this was the down turn. But nevertheless, it is good news for some people and we expect Google to have them available for all users once it pull off in the United States.
