Is WidgetBucks Ads performing?

Posted by Adi Wong On November - 15 - 2007

WidgetBucks ads seems to be returning good income for some bloggers. There is some bloggers who do really well on Widgetbuck referral such as 5xMom and Ades. I have actually tried it on one of my blogs, although it is not really performing, I still belief that it has potential because of the graphical effects and the payout of the banner ads.

Then until today, I read from Problogger, that Widgetbuck to stop monitizing from Non-North American Traffic. This may be a fair move for them as I believe other country buy less online especially from a United State store.

The only concern is that will result just like Chitika. A lot of bloggers do wells when Chitika comes out, and published starts to remove them and the hype was over.

Make million massaging Google

Posted by Adi Wong On November - 14 - 2007

An off topic post about Bonnie Brown, who is a millionaire by massaging Google. A rest from all those serious post. :)

Quite a touching story telling people that there is always hope to becoming rich. She made USD450 weekly being an in-house masseuse for Google Inc. and given some Google Stocks, thinking that will not worth any money. Who knows, she is richer than most average people.

Reading on further, you reads that she now have masseuse to come by her house once a week. I bet she must be telling her story to her masseuse to motivate him/her.

Live.com email will be a failure

Posted by Adi Wong On November - 14 - 2007

After trying all methods to get a @live.com email. I finally found out that it is useless. I have a few Live.com email registered but I can’t login into my account. :)

So, what is the use having a web-base email when you can’t access them overseas. Microsoft seems to limit the registration to geographical limitation. As a result, Malaysian could only register for username@live.com.my email. I manage to get @live.com email because I have friends who did that for my in the United States. I was happy that I am able to get my username before everyone else in the whole world manage to grab some good name. Unfortunately, I have found out that I can’t login to my account. Hilarious to say that, but nevertheless, I have that account until Microsoft free up its geographical limitation.

Anyway, I snap up 4 username with @live.com and some useless username at @live.com.my. Although I do not have intention to use them, but it is always nice to keep them aside as you won’t know how many @gmail.com will be available. Most probably by now, you could hardly get your name and ending having username like adiwong2020@gmail.com.

Statcounter regain its PR10 from PR6

Posted by Adi Wong On November - 12 - 2007

It seems that request reconsideration from Google  works for Statcounter too. Statcounter dropped to a puny little PageRank of 6 from a PageRank 10. Check Pagerank at iWebTool with 33 datacenters. I had successfully regain my PageRank with one of my websites too, but someone commented that they have PageRank drop after requesting for reconsideration, this is kind of weird. It may be due to drop in links toward the homepage.

If you check out Statcounter, they still have text links but a nofollow tag is included in all links. Therefore, no PageRank juice is flow to the advertisers, only traffic. I believe the value of links will drop but a PageRank 10 website will still be able to sell links at ease.

I have no idea how the reconsideration works as Google did not inform me about the status. It is just that one day I go back to my homepage and noticing that my PageRank had gone back to the normal state.

Remove Text Link and Request Reconsideration to gain PR

Posted by Adi Wong On November - 7 - 2007

Google have made it firm and clear that anyone that sells text link for the sake of manipulating search result will be penalize by having their PageRank (PR) deducted. Most of the bloggers who sold text link have their PR dropped by 2. Although there is some who faced much higher penalty on their PR.

I have blogged about ways that you may save your PR and it did work for me. My Malaysia Property website dropped to a low PR 2 for selling text links. At the start of this month, after my payment (of course :) ), I request for cancellation from text link ads and request reconsideration through Google Webmasters Tools.

The process was pretty simple. All I have done is deleted TLA and request that my account be closed (by contacting them, don’t know what there is no better way to like delete account). Then login to my Google Webmasters Tools and requst reconsideration. The next day, I got this

Reconsideration request for http://www.syiok.com/

November 2, 2007

We’ve received a request from a site owner to reconsider the following site for inclusion in our index: http://www.syiok.com/

We’ll review the site. If we find that it’s no longer in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines, we’ll reinclude the site in our index. Please allow several weeks for the reconsideration request. We do review all requests, but unfortunately we can’t reply individually to each request.

As of today, a week after submission, I got back my PageRank of 3 from PageRank 2. It is not a big jump, but it shows that it worked. Which may be important for some people.
