Bad Grammar in Blogging does not exists

Posted by Adi Wong On January - 31 - 2008

Yesterday, I have a comment about bad grammar in my blog and I feel that this people is just trying to let people down and asking people to stop blogging. First off all, even big time blogger who earns 5 to 6 figures income have bad grammar. Moreover, English is not my mother tongue. I could speak at least 4 languagues. If you could do as much without having grammar mistake in all languages and at the same time not a student or anything related to linguistic, I will salute you.

By blogging, I strongly that I am writing better, and I tend to read much more. So why not give others a chance to become better. One thing I know for sure is that language could not be learn by book, practice is needed. This is what I am doing here and writing about something I like.

Therefore, I hope that all bloggers do not get discourage with people commenting like that. You should welcome correction on your grammar or any mistake you have done but not insult of any kind. They are just not giving others a chance to be better person.

RSS Feed to Twitter

Posted by Adi Wong On January - 30 - 2008

I have tried TwitterFeed for a few days and it seems to be great. I like the fact that you could publish your post into a micro-blogging platform, which is why I favour Jaiku from the beginning. It seems more precious to have Jaiku because it is now on invite only, and Google seems to have no idea what they are doing next. I hope it is some nifty new features which will benefit bloggers.

Twitter Feed

Basically, you could add your feeds to TwitterFeeds using a Open ID login (you may already own one ID). But you will have to expose your Twitter login and password. You could use more than one feeds with one Twitter account. It is another extra way I could publish my post. Although, I will stick with Jaiku on my right panel for now, I am giving Twitter another try. Pownce, another microblogging platform has also open up their registration for all.

There are more about the benefits of Twitter in Problogger where I found this TwitterFeeds. Also, I have won 1000 Entrecard credit from Problogger.

Entrecard Experience

It is been 18 days since I joined Entrecard, although I am not getting a whole load of traffic from Entrecard itself, it is some new traffic source which I have not get before this, which is good. Also, Entrecard has a directory listing of all the blogs/website.

The cost of advertising on my website is still rather cheap with only 23 credit / day. This means that there is little people dropping card on my website. The credit is calculated by cards dropped into your website in the last 5 days multiplied by 2.

It is fine, to make up for the low payment, I had to drop card on other website and I manage to collect quite a bit of credit. Like others, I may start a contect giving it up. Until then, I will have to keep clicking and collecting my credit.

This contest will actually cost me nothing but some time and effort, which is good as budget is limited. I would recommend it to those who are in the same situation as me. :) . Maybe I could win back some credit from you too.

Easy to Say but Hard to Act

Posted by Adi Wong On January - 25 - 2008

Sometimes it is easy for big time blogger to say that there is much potential in earning big money online but when you try to blog and do the math. It never tallies, because of much factors. What I learn in life is that the starting part of anything (any business, blogging, real life or any other things), it is always hard at first and when you start growing, things grow exponentially. Therefore, it is important to be persistent and wait until your time come. Giving up in the middle of the process is so common among people that makes more people fail than succeed in business.

Let us look at bloggers like John Chow,  no offense he are great bloggers but their daily post begin to be nothing more than a personal blog, reviews, cars and guest post. Guest post are usually pretty useful as people would want to get their link up the website, in order to have some promotion for their website. A new blog like mine will bleed to death waiting for some guest blogger to come by.

I am now actually feeling the pain as to find things to post which are useful and worrying that it may not be good. But I like it as it is part of me who wants to get updated in blogging world, to keep note of all useful things.

WordPress a Powerful Script

Posted by Adi Wong On January - 22 - 2008

I have read this article using WordPress as a CMS and come to think of it, it is actually very powerful. It is important to choose a reliable and good CMS as the backbone of your website because when trend changes throughout the Internet, such as Web 2.0 taking place, there is needs to comply in order to capture the new users.

Personally I own a Malaysia Property Classifieds. The script was bought 3 years ago when I had no idea what is WordPress. This script is great and it is working well until today, but there is limitation on how I could edit them because I have lack of php knowledge. On the other hand, WordPress is a lot more easier to edit with the way they have their API for developers. It is easily understood and I had no problem editing plugins and themes.

Currently, it is possible to have Classifieds plugin for WordPress. by using the proper posting form. After few tries, I recommend TDO Mini Forms, as it is complete with all the function and fields you need to run a classifieds. The form is easily configured using dragable widgets.

This plugins is also suitable to be an article directory, whereby everyone is a reporter and are allowed to post their article on your website. There is captcha and various security measures to limit spam too. You will need them when you grow to be big.
