DreamHost Webhosting Discount Coupon Code

Posted by Adi Wong On February - 4 - 2008

This site has been hosted by Dreamhost since it started. I have 3 hosting in total and felt that Dreamhost provides a better consistency in their service compare to the rest. They have their own control panel, which is one of the best so far compare to Direct Admin and Cpanel which I have used.

Another reason I choose Dreamhost is because I could access it with reasonably fast speed from Malaysia, as the datacenters is located at United States (I can’t find anywhere the exact location of the Datacenters, weird). I am sure that speed there are much faster, but if you have a website which is targeted worldwide, you will need to ensure that people from the east could load and see your website smoothly.

Overall Dreamhost packages is pretty attractive with

500GB Storage
5TB Bandwidth
Unlimited MySQL
Unlimited Email
Unlimited Domain – This is useful if you are parking and beginning to have lotsa idea for different domain.
Unlimited Sub Domain
More information here

It cost you USD8.95/month if paid in 2 years.

For those who are looking for a webhosting and a domain. I have discount coupon code which will be suitable for you.

Coupon: 50PLUS2FREE
USD50 discount for all packages
Plus you will receive 2 free domains for life
(it is for life as long as you are hosted with them)

Microsoft plan to acquire Yahoo!

Posted by Adi Wong On February - 2 - 2008

This is going to be huge when Microsoft tries to acquire the other half of the search engine marketshare. As you know one half is already owned by Google, a bigger portion. Even after the acquisition Microsoft will be lag behind Google.

I don’t really like the idea because when Google and Microsoft decides in a close meeting room that they will start charging for email service. This includes any other service tyey offered. What is the public going to do? It is easier to do that with 2 parties rather than 3 parties.

But I strongly thinks that it will fall through as Yahoo! is slowing losing marketshare. I think compare to Google, Yahoo! is less innovative and needs more money to invest in new trend and explore.

What is your outlook on this if it falls through?

SPRY – Ajax without knowing Javascript

SPRY is actually in beta stage, currently sitting at Adobe Labs. From the description and the explanation of this piece of framework. It seems that it could actually help a lot of webmaster out there who have little knowledge to produce a website with nifty features using AJAX.

Basic knowledge is still required but it definately seems that a very minimal amount of knowledge will do the job.

Spry is a JavaScript-based framework that enables the rapid development of Ajax-powered web pages. Not a JavaScript guru? No problem. Spry was designed to feel like an extension of HTML and CSS, so anyone with basic web-production skills can create next-generation web experiences by adding the power of Ajax to their pages.

Spry can be used with any server-side technology (ColdFusion, PHP, ASP.Net etc.). By building the front-end of your web application with Spry you enable a more efficient designer-developer workflow by keeping UI separated from back-end application logic.

Love at First Sight

Posted by Adi Wong On February - 1 - 2008

I have again changed my theme as I felt that the font for the previous theme is not suitable and the design is kinda lack of something. With this new Forte WordPress Theme, there is much more panel which I could add different stuff like tag cloud, video, pictures, advertisements and mure more expansion. The first time I see this was actually yesterday, and I have downloaded a few plugins to ensure that this theme woud work out well.

I like the side panel as you could see on the right side with the poll. It is like 4 panel into one space. Which is quite efficient. I doubt that search engine would be any helpful, but the recent post is actually repeated below.

Also for the first time, I have 4 advertisements slots of 125 x 125 pixel, which I will have some affiliate or referral banner in the mean time until someone actually purchase an ads from Rice Blogger dotCom.

The footer will carry most of the post which are popular, recent, most commented, top commentator, links and mybloglog. All the space I need and not cluttered my content.
