Adsense Payment seems to be slow this month

Posted by Adi Wong On July - 30 - 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Also you might want to check out my Malaysia Top 100 Blogs List. Thanks for visiting!

Usually be the end of the month I would see a lot of bloggers posting that they have received their payment from Adsense. It is usually done around 24th to 28th of the ending month. Unfortunately, this month it is a little slower thant normal. But I believe that it will be here very soon. As of today, it is still indicating “Payment in Progress”

It is pretty hard at least for me to obtain my first adsense payment because the minimum is USD100. I belief that there is a lot of bloggers who gave up way before they even reach a double digit amount. It is hard, but if you are persistent, your income would grow exponentially because you get paid for all the post you made previously and those that you entered daily.

Once you have accumulated a total of USD100, your payday will be at your fingertips after another 30 days – 90days) depending on your method of payment and the time it takes for the Google Cheque to be delivered to you.

BarCamp Malaysia 26th July, 2008

Posted by Adi Wong On July - 26 - 2008

I attended BarCamp Malaysia today and it was actually pretty good. I did not know what I was expecting at the bar camp but now I finally undersand. It is basically a learning curve for everyone there, and you will be able to chose between classes and talks on the topic that interest you.

BarCamp is actually an international event with their official website at http://www.barcamp.org.

The first 200 registration was actually fully taken up and I did not manage to pre-register for this event. But luckily the event open up for walk in. I was there early at 9.10am to register and sat for few classes before leaving.

I won’t be there tomorrow because plans was made in advance and did not know that I will appear in BarCamp Malaysia. Although the place is kinda small when the are actually expecting more than 200 people, but there is no complaint since everything was free and there is tones of people you could possible meet.

And it would be greater fun if there is Wifi as a lot of people actually brought their laptop.

Great job to the committee that brought us this event and their sponsors. Thanks.

Top 10 Magazine Theme for Wordpress

Posted by Adi Wong On July - 23 - 2008

I have recently won a VivaZoom Plugin (from WPCandy) and it is a great plugins. This was a easy contest was all I had to do is to write a post to thank the people at Wordpress. VivaZoom plugin is actually gives your website a very cool effect for all your pictures. But all it was lacking was a good theme, because normally, most theme have lack of thumbnail pictures on the front page and also the sidebars.

This is a great plugin for magazine theme because there is no need to use “custom field” to include picture into the post and front page (unless your intention is to have different picture for front page and the post). Vivazoom will automatically crop the picture according to the needed width and height.

This nifty little plugin would actually go nice with most Magazine Theme that uses custom fields to upload its picture. I will start off with 2 free ones that I have found.

1. Mimbo Wordpress Theme

Mimbo is one of the best free magazine theme I have seen so far and look very professional.

It does categorize top navigation panel into subpages, that is very clean and neat way of arrangement.

2. Arthemia

This is another well designed Free Magazine Theme. It is more of a summary theme on the top half. Then normal blog style in the bottom half.

Browse category section is a huge plus for me.

3. Massive Press

Massive Press have a slightly different layout, it does not look so commercial but it is able to provide a massive amount of information in its small little front page.

Wordpress for iPhone

Posted by Adi Wong On July - 22 - 2008

Apple iPhone is actually making such a big hit that even wordpress is having its script available for iPhone users. Users will actually be able to upload photos, edit post or write a new post with an iPhone or iTouch. You will be able to update either Wordpress blogs hosted at your own server or Wordpress.com blogs.

This is actually pretty useful for Malaysian users since WiFi is easily available in a lot of some cafes, malls, KFCs and all Starbucks in Malaysia. People could actually blog on the move with picture taken from iPhone.

I am actually hoping that iPhone 3G will be here at Malaysia, but I guess it would be long and Digi would be the last provider I am hoping could get the contract.

If you are currently holding an iPhone or iTouch. Go on to http://iphone.wordpress.org/ to find out more about the application.

Here you can view it in action:-

Plurk is Down

Posted by Adi Wong On July - 18 - 2008

I was trying to do some plurking and it is already down for maintainance. I hope that it is not going be taking up the toll of increasing users. Compare to Twitter, it definitely seems that Plurk is using much more resources. Therefore it should take the burden on the server will be high once they have a heavy bunch of users.

Although I am not getting any traffic from my plurk to this website as it is too troublesome to post each post into plurk. I am getting use to the interface and I kind of like Plurk community because of the karma, people interaction is much higher compare to my twitter account.

I hope this article Digged 700+ times “Plurk = Twitter (Without the Downtime)” would be true.

Update: It is down for 2 hours already. Wow!
