Jaiku Moved to Google Datacenter

Just received an email from Jaiku. It has not been long since my last check on Jaiku but their server was down. I even remember seeing it being down for the whole weekend. Hopefully this moved to Google Datacenter will actually improve Jaiku uptime.

Google have acquire Jaiku for very very long and the only thing they did was making it invite only. This made the slowdown of Jaiku growth. While other microblogging platform like Twitter, Pownce, and not to mention Plurk is growing. Hopefully this time Google is really trying to do some difference and not waste their investor money.

I believe that there is no limit on Jaiku Invites, if you need one, just drop me a comment.

Chitika show only White Background

Posted by Adi Wong On August - 28 - 2008

I have recently signed up with Chitika in my journey to try different method to moneytize my blog. I have blog that are targeted towards worldwide audiance but at the same time, Malaysia audiance. Because of the theme used is not a white background, I had to get Chitika to blend into my theme.

With various attempts to change the background color and pasting the code into my theme. I concluded that there shouldn’t be any mistake on my part. An email to Chitika verify the following:-

The colors will not show up properly to anyone from an unsupported country (we only support traffic from the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, UK, and The United States). Users in an “unsupported” country will see a default ad unit.

As a result, my homepage still look like this to me because I am located in Malaysia.

I think I am going to pull this off because I have other nation who visits my blog and it surely does not look nice.

Future Search Engine

Posted by Adi Wong On August - 26 - 2008

What do you expect from Search Engine? Although Search Engine like Google, Yahoo and MSN are not perfect, but I would say that it is the fastest way to gain information about a particular subject. Navigaya have actually put in an experience of multiple search engine including the latest Cuil, Google, Yahoo, MSN, Wikipedia, Altavista, Lycos, Answer.com and much more.

On top of that they have also included some animated background, music toolbar when you mouseover the top and a misc toolbar (a little like Mac) when you mouseover the bottom.

Here is how Riceblogger looks like when I search for “Internet Marketing Malaysia” via Google and enlarge the screen.

Try it out, it is quite interesting. I am guessing that as our internet speed become faster, more animation and processing could be done for a better effects.

Try Navigaya Search Engine Experience.

Olympic Video is Copyright Material

Posted by Adi Wong On August - 25 - 2008

Olympic is officially over as of yesterday. If you are trying to watch some replays of some record breaking moments at youtube (Usain Bolt with his 9.69 or Michael Phelbs getting his 8 medals), or maybe some funny moments at the Olympic events, or even the video about a Taekwondo Athlete who attacked the referee. It is all in motion graphic rather than videos because of the copyright protection.

Overall, I think this Olympic is a succesful one and London will have to do a lot to ensure that they will do better then their predecessor organizer.

Flash Tag Cloud Wordpress Plugin

Posted by Adi Wong On August - 22 - 2008

Previously my Tag Cloud was a little messed up because of the plugin and the theme arrangement. Until I found out this cool little Flash Tag Cloud Plugin for Wordpress, WP Cumulus. Like any other Wordpress Plugin, it is simply painless to install extra plugins.

Installation is just upload, activate and customize at settings panel. You could customize the size and color of the Tag Cloud easily on the wordpress settings panel. After that you just need to place the following code at your theme.

<?php wp_cumulus_insert(); ?>

As you can see the result will look like this or you could see it running at my sidebar.
