If you are wondering how other twitter users direct message you when you follow them, it is because there is an automated method to do this. I found this website TweetLater, which is great in managing new followers. I would say that it is a must have for all twitter users.
Their features include:-
- Direct Message New Follower
- Posting Future Tweets
- Vet New Followers – control if you should follow back base on updates/followers/twit image
- Or you can do Auto Follow features
- Manage multiple twitter accounts
- Keyword Alert via Email
- Also some nifty paid service – but the free version is already superb
I have used it for a few months now and I am pretty satisfied with the controls I get on my twitter. This is the best Twitter Application so far compare to those I compiled some a year ago on Twitter Application.

I was wondering how people were doing that. Usually I find them pretty irritating. I would rather someone wow me with their ideas, than self permote through direct messages.

That sounds like a really clever addon for twitter – I think it would save a lot of time because it helps you vet new followers, so you wouldn’t be wasting your time with people who were wasting yours
Ryan: true, it is a way of promotion, but they should do something with their message to get the wow factor. Maybe I should give some thought to mine..:)
Lena: this is a great addon.
TweetLater is great tool. I use it pretty often to schedule my tweets. I would highly recommend using it. I also need to give the professional version a try.
