Technorati Ranking 101 – Claim Your Blog

Posted by Adi Wong On June - 6 - 2009

I know this is a little back track but I notice that there are actually quite a lot of blogs that are pretty good in terms of alexa ranking, pagerank and also commentators but do not have technorati ranking. So I would like to educate others to do this as you may actually deserves to be in the Malaysia Top 100 Bloggers list.

Here is the steps:-

1. Click on “Claim your blog” button like the screen shot below

2. Then enter your url

3. The only tricky part is to get the code, you can actually copy the code and make a blog post under HTML view, or you could add a link.

For wordpress the name would be “Technorati Profile” and the Web Address fields would be something like “”http://technorati.com/claim/[code here]"

As I only have 2 different counters to make my list, I cannot just simply not take technorati into account. Until I get my pagerank script to work, we will have to bear with this at the moment. Moreover, I think technorati is a good ranking to judge a blog ranking.

p/s: also you could claim your twitter account by twitting the link. But don't feel that there is much use to that.

You’re right, this really works well. In fact it gives a slight boost to the technorati ranking. Nice post!

  2. Tunes says:

Is this really gives the increase in the rating of Technorati? I will check it … Thank you for your excellent post.

  3. Adi Wong says:

Make Money & Tunes: it will give you an initial ranking but does not add your ranking. Currently, if you are not registered with Technorati, your blog has no ranking. It is different from alexa.

  4. eyeman says:

ehm. i will try and claim it. Might be will see a different.

  5. I think I’ve done it few months ago. :) Btw, Adi do you mind to add my blog to the Top 100 Malaysia Blogs list?
Do let me know if you need any info okay?

    Thank you very much!

    Regards,
    Lee

  6. aye, but what about other traffic ranking metrics such as compete and quantcast?

if you are measuring traffic, ain’t those 2 good estimates for website traffic as well?

  7. Adi Wong says:

eyeman: the difference is that you get a ranking…before this…there is no ranking

ahkong: definitely tought of that..last weekend I had spend hours to get google PR but failed…hehe….can’t do them in batch…

  8. Beads says:

need to see the difference, thanks.

  9. BK says:

Good luck getting technorati to claim your blog. I have tried for a week or two with no luck at all. The server times out. Anyone else succeeded lately?

  10. Robert Brown says:

Hey Adi, Thanks for the article. I saw the thing that said “Claim your blog” and, I hope I don’t sound too stupid, I didn’t know what it was. Thanks for the info about this, I have now successfully claimed my blog ;-)

  11. Melayu Boleh says:

cool. need to do that for my new blog. I believe we will see big difference.

  12. Ben Pei says:

This is a must for all bloggers man! Its like facebook for blogs.

  13. The only thing I see Technorati as being valuable for is to get your first handful of links. I don’t know anybody who places any sort of value on the Technorati ranking. What matters these days above all is your search engine rankings, as that’s what brings in the cash.

  14. imDavidLee says:

do u have any idea how to increase techorati rank?

  15. Adi Wong says:

BK: hmmm.i had not problem at all…
    Robert: no prob
Melaya Boleh: you should do that to all blogs
    Benpei: Yup, definitely
imDavidLee: From my experience, getting people with high authority to write and link to your blog post does help. This means a good content will improve your ranking.

  16. IT Buzz says:

    Thanks!
    Jeannie
