ServerFreak Malaysia Webhosting Review

I do not have a long experience with ServerFreak but had quite a few encounter with them and their service is simply great. Only a month ago I have move some of my important websites to their semi-dedicated hosting. But I did enquire about their service various time through msn regarding different aspect of their server.

The main reason why I did move to their service is due to their great review, and these review are coming from blogs which are well known. Second reason is because of their packages that suites my requirements. Thirdly, they are base in Malaysia but my server is located in United States, I could call them in their 24/7 line, MSN or submit a ticket when I encounter any problem at all.

So here are my experience, last week, I wanted to clean up my database on my old hosting at Exabytes, but accidentally clean up my existing hosting db [yes, pretty dumb of me]. I lost 10 DBs, not one, called them and everything is back in normal within 1 hours. Moreover, this was on Friday, close to midnight.

I do have other great experience is that their uptime is definitely better than Exabytes, but is a little slow due to location of the server. It was down once for around 5 minutes during the early morning for a month plus with them. Other services like setting up my account, facilitating my migration of my scripts and tickets response if doing great so far.

If you are looking for a Malaysia Webhosting service, ServerFreak should definitely be considered. Hope that this ServerFreak review is helpful as I was worried like hell after confirming the deletion of my database.

Then is serverfreak better than exabyte?

    • Adi Wong says:

I can’t say that for sure now. But their service is pretty good for sure.

As for comparison with exabytes, so far their uptime is better as exabytes seems to have a lot of downtime these days.

did you ever try others hosting outside malaysia like hostgator or hostmonster?

    • Adi Wong says:

Hi Titan, infact I am now using hostgator for Riceblogger, but I need a semi-dedicated hosting for my extra needs, and I would prefer to call someone when I am paying so much more for a service.

  3. chuan says:

Should i use the webhosting service? Coz blogger is free, except if i set up a web site.

    • Adi Wong says:

erm…i started straight to self hosted wordpress…tried some blogspot blog and did not like the interface as there is little to no control. My recommendation is to start straight with wordpress because if your switch, you will see some drop in traffic and income because the url is actually different even though you do an import of all post to your self hosted website

      • Jayce says:

Agree. Hosted WordPress is better than Blogger. You can modify almost everything. ;)

          hi rice!

i am still considering to move my blog from free wordpress to wordpress.org. Agree with you about the drop in traffic and seniority (am i using the correct terminolgy).

somebody advised me to subsribe for the RM100++ per year package as my blog still green and don’t have heavy traffic.

          • Adi Wong says:

yup, as of today a rm100+ package would be sufficient for your one domain hosting, serverfreak cheapest is at rm60/year and rm50 if you pay 2 years in advance. Give it a try and you get to learn things behind the paid hosting service and also give you more flexibility

Totally agree with you. Their services and support are great!

Just to double confirm Adi, if I want to optimize local sites, is it better to get local hosting such as serverfreak?

Also can you share with me what plugin you use ‘sharing is caring’ it is cute!

  11. Adi Wong says:

not necessary, but local company got phone support

serverfreak actually have servers in malaysia and US, so you will need to specific when you buy hosting from them

    plugin is sexy bookmarks

  12. Cath says:

would u mind commenting on this? my friend says that only hosting in malaysia you can see the pages from malaysia in google. is that true?

I’ve just recently subscribed to ServerFreak’s Student Web Hosting package. So far I’m very satisfied to the service they provided, especially Customer Support. I usually get reply within 15 minutes, sometimes as fast as 5 minute!

Anyway, I’ve just done the opposite of what you did. I requested a migration of server from US to MY. Since most of the time it will be used for my School projects and a blog/site that are currently targeted at locals only.. haha :)

    Long live SF!
