It seems that our Malaysia first blog aggregator is no longer working all the way back to 23 September. As a person that likes blogging, likes the SEO and the community that I could belong, PetalingStreet.org seems to land on the wrong person hand.

I liked the new face lift that is done on the new PPS, but hated that the owner is selling its soul in order to gain his ROI for the amount he paid for that site, I am sure he is doing great as he is selling text link to 5 websites and still able to maintain a pagerank of 2 and not get strip of everything at the early months.

Sadly enough the last tweet by the owner that pingger is down is now 15 days old.

Is PetalingStreet.org still fixable? Will it catch up with the latest web technology? Will there be loyalty at PPS?

I have updated the list of Top 100 Malaysia Blog, I am so sorry for the delay as I was busy, especially trying to move my hosting to which took tones of time and planing to do so. Here is some of the obvious changes I have seen from today updates:-

• My own ranking dropped from #15 to #38, for obvious reasons.
• Top 10 movement – KennySia has dropped (I think a lot of people will not like this) and a newcomer at #10 EmilaYusof.
• Added some new qualifying blogs that have requested through my email.
• Removed Hemmy.net as previously voted to remove idle blog, making some one extra space on the top 10 list

Dr. Mahathir (http://www.Chedet.co.cc) is still not there due to no technorati ranking, and it will be bias if I were use an approximate value for its technorati ranking. Maybe someone should tell the webmaster to register itself to Technorati.

How is the rank calculated?

I have been receiving emails, forum discussion, and comments on how is this rank calculated. It is not my personal opinion but I put a weight more on alexa ranking compare to technorati ranking. So if you ranking gets higher (drop in rank) in alexa or numbers gets higher in technorati as well, do expect that you ranking slip as well. But there are occasion that ones goes up and another goes down, this will depend on the changes.

Blog for FT or Blog for Federal Territories of Malaysia is a contest to promote the Federal Territories of Malaysia that will include Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan. Not quite sure who organize this and what are the prizes by reading their whole 4 pages website but it definitely seems to be professionally designed website. Anyhow, I don’t think there is much to lose for people who are already blogging about photo shots of Malaysia, or people who blog about Malaysian food or even people who blog about their daily lifestyle. Contest will start next week on the 5th of October until the 5th of January 2010.

This is a great way to promote the Federal Territories by organizing a Malaysia Blog Contest.

Meme is the new microblogging platform (like twitter) from Yahoo!. Wonder if it is kinda late to come in with yet another microblogging platform. We have like what……twitter, plurk, jaiku, identi.ca, facebook status updates, pownce (now closed), and now…..Meme by Yahoo!. I find it strange that they are still coming up with this, but I am waiting for my invite to check out that is inside. It better be something different since they are coming into the market these late and people are already connected with friends inside their own microblogging platform.

I have just stumble upon a website selling their “Twitter Profit House” kit, that claims that you could make money twittering. Personally I have not tried it and will not be interested to try it because I strongly believe that it is mainly spaming others. With twitter, we could batch follow and batch unfollow, meaning that you can easily expand your follower to five figures with minimal time and minimal efforts. This is the reason I recomended Tweet Later, so that you can control who you are following, and even block those who are annoying.

This make money twittering website looks pretty professional and it even has the linke “As seen and trusted on…” CNBC, USA Today, CNN and abc.

It has been a week plus since my Malaysia Top Blogs list is published and I am so happy with the response as my effort are appreciated. Nevertheless, there is quite a few comments too. Some that could be implemented, some that is impossible to be implemented and others that does not make sense to be done, and I thank everyone that wrote in.

It is not perfect, and I am working hard to update the list when I had the time. If you written to me, you are sure that the mail is read, you will see your blog appearing if you have the desire alexa and technorati ranking.

So now I have two questions hanging in my mind and hoping that everyone can share their opinions. We shall take the majority view as I would like everyone to own this list and build this list together with me.

This poll is about certain site that may be idle, a great example is Hemmy.net, whos last update is Sep 2008 but with its statistics it is still at top 10 of my list.

Another controversial is whereby some Malaysian may be overseas and there will be some foreigner staying in Malaysia who blogs. I would personally accept both since they are all related to our lovely country.

My Malaysia Top Blogger list is now completed with more than 100 bloggers, but like I said in my previous post, only the worthy blog will stay up the list as I will update it from time to time with my automated script. If your blog is better, I would most definitely like to know about it and pay your blog a visit too. Let me know.

I have been trying to do a script to automatically updates my list of Top 100 Malaysian Blogs to promote the Malaysian Blogesphere for weeks now. Finally, it is here. This is a ranking base solely on Alexa ranking and Technorati ranking. Although it may not be so perfect because the fetching of the ranks could encounter some problem at times.  I may have missed out some blogs that are suppose to be included, feel free to inform me about all those great sites that is suppose to be on this list.

If you view the list far below, you will notice that there is only 83 blogs now. So here is your chance to be included into this list. Also not to mention, if you have what it takes to kick someone down the chart, I would definitely like to know your blog url.

PPS or also called as Project Petaling Street  is the very first Malaysia Blog aggregator in Malaysia. It has created quite a controversial when it was sold to another blogger in Malaysia. But despite the downside, I am pretty happy since someone is actually going to make a change in PPS that basically had not changed much since it started like 5 or 6 years back. The initial founder has tried incorporating blog directory, a blog, feed aggregator with few different php scripts, and other changes. Unfortunately it did not materialize and was left untouch for at least 1 year or 2 now.

Now the new PPS is selling advertisements space of 125 x 125 banner and also Text Link. It is hard to get people with high pagerank to sell text link because they also risk their hard work of getting there. Did I mention that they are DoFollow text link?

So if you are itnerested to buy some link, you can contact VCTech Network, who is the new owner of PPS.

I think there is still a lot of people out there who does not know what is twitter and what it is all about. But it is time to learn that Twitter is a big thing and they such a huge thing that Google is also talking to Twitter, for accusition or product development.

It seems that Dr. Mahathir is here for the making money online blogging business as well. For those who don’t know, Dr. Mahathir is our Ex Prime Minister for Malaysia. The very first time I notice it, I quickly email them to enquire for the rate because I am interested to advertise my Malaysia Classifieds if I could get a great deal due to target traffic and perfect for this kind of website. Unfortunately, It is too expensive and I could not afford it at all. If you are interested to know here are the rates:-

• Side Box – 170px x 200px – RM5,000/month
• Top Banner – 728px x 90px – RM12,000/month

I did not ask for the inside page banner as I did not quite like the position, therefore I got no price on that. The placement is not bad and it is quite visible as you can see below.

 But you also have to read the terms of their advertisements as follows:-

• Discounts available for advertising periods of one month & above.
• All advertising positions are on rotating basis with a maximum of 5 ads. 
• Rates quoted above are on a per banner/day basis, minimum of 7 days. 
• For banner designs, a fee of RM70 per design will be charged. Design fees will be waived for advertising campaigns of above RM2500.
• Ads in Top Banner & Tower Box positions will appear in the Main Page & Inside Page .

Did you read fine print that says rotating basis of 5 ads max. From my calculation without the inside banner, our beloved Dr. Mahathir will be potentially earn upto RM185,000/month (approx USD51,000/month), and this is not including the inside page banner. I am quite sure this is the most succesful problogger in the shortest amount of time.

Also, I find it weird that he is using the domain of .co.cc rather than his original Chedet.com. Co.cc domain is used by affiliate markerter because when you refer someone to co.cc and they bought something, you will actually get 40% commission.

Next thing you know, you will see Dr. Mahathir blog becoming a make money online blog.

Yup, I actually sold a twitter account. I registered it earlier with some plans to use it to market my blog or forming a group tweet with it. This twitter account was an account with something got to do with making money and have about 100+ followers (which is not bad for a account that has less than 20 tweets). Since I did not have the time to utilize it, I sold it to Greg when he offered me $50 to buy that twitter account. It is not a large sum of money but it does addup to my monthly online income, so it is a good news.
