Overture is Down

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 29 - 2007

Overture has been a great tool for webmaster, especially people involve in SEO. It is not showing any result for some reason and I personally hope that it would be back as I use it from time to time.

Although Overture only represents Yahoo! search result for the previous month, you could revert this to the bigger picture. From Market Virticle Partners, you will see that on March 07, Google represents 49.7%, Yahoo! represents 26.8%, MSN had 10.3% and then the other smaller search engine carry the rest.

How do you use overture?

Sometimes, I tends to search at overture regarding some keyword before posting. This is because I will know what keyword is mostly typed, and I could relate my title with the keyword.

It is mainly a part of my learning curve at SEO, which is practically a never ending learning road.

Change your BlogRush Headlines

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 25 - 2007

BlogRush is actually not quite suitable for a new/low traffic blog, but I will give this headlines changing trick a try before calling it quit. This is a pretty neat trick which I have discovered from John Chow.

It is pretty easy and you are in control of your headlines at all time. Originally, Blogrush only publish your latest post when it is your turn to redeem your syndicate credit. But this method allow you to control to your exact post, and it just take you a minute to edit the file each time.

Here is what you need to do.

  1. Copy the code above and paste to a notepad, save it as blogrush.rss

  2. Change the stuff needed to be changed. (title, description, link)

  3. Upload them to your hosting server

  4. Submit a new blog with this new feed (you are not allow to change your feed after you have submited).

You are done!

Once others Blogrush widget shows your feed, it will appear as

Blogrush only brings high traffic blog more traffic

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 23 - 2007

Just like what had been said in my Blogrush post. Blogrush actually rushes more traffic to a higher traffic blog. This is because higher traffic tends to get more syndicate credit and more referral. They will end up having higher traffic.

I am not getting spam or multi level marketing on blogrush. but look at my stats, negative, I am still paying for my debt. CTR is quite low, very low.

I believe in a week time, this will be off my blog.

WordPress Search

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 17 - 2007

When Google introduce Adsense for Search, some of the bloggers may delete the code for their search function and the replace them with Google Search. This is because when user click on the ads shown on the search result page, blog owner will get paid.

Google search is not as good as the initial search embeded in Google because new post will not be included in Google Search. Google Search on a blog is only update when it is spidered, unless your blog is frequently update, spider is now schedule to crawl your homepage daily.

All you have to do is to add a code on the url to search the wordpress blog. Blog must be powered by WordPress. You just add a small code /?s= behind the domain.

For example:
Search term is “WordPress Plugins”
Type in your browser: http://www.blog-url.com/?s=Wordpress+Plugins
