Create something Similar to Awesome Popup

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 23 - 2008

Previously I was promoting a software name Awesome Popup, and it is actually a great marketing tool if you are trying to get your visitor attention. Usually if you are not putting advertisements, your visitor will not get annoyed. What I did previously was to have a reminder for my visitor to join a contest.

Now you can create you own Popup with Lightbox as background. It will appear less aggresive with this smooth popup with Lightbox.

It is actually loading 2 different scripts, one for the popup and another for the background to have a nicer look.

Here is the tutorial teaching you how to d make your own smooth popup.

Change your Windows XP Desktop to look like Mac

Posted by Adi Wong On August - 19 - 2008

A cool way to change the Windows XP skin into a Mac look alike. I am sure that there are many who are like me who can’t afford to own an extra Apple Laptop but at the same time can’t really let go of the trusty old Windows (did I say trusty?).

This would be a very nice way to change your Windows XP Desktop. Below is a printscreen from the tutorial and it certainly look very much like an Apple. It is truly a great job done.

Learn about how you could change the skin of your Windows XP.

Apple Mac MenuBar for your Theme

Posted by Adi Wong On December - 6 - 2007

Mac Menubar has been quite a cool feature and here is your chance to have them for your website. This is quite a nice design with by using Fisheye jQuery. You could have this menu bar for your website or embedded with you theme. There is quite some script out there using Fisheye, but nDesign has one of the nicest out there.

Download Mac Menubar script
and learn how to use them here. With little knowledge using html and changing some of the image and position, you are good to go with your website.

I tried combining this Apple Mac Menubar with this floating menu script, unfortunately the Fisheye is unable to float along with the menu. If you have the solution to this, let me know. I am interested to know.

Free Photoshop Online – Fauxto

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 25 - 2007

It is a Free Picture Editor online, Fauxto. Nothing is better than free tool online rather having although it may not be everything an Adobe Photoshop can do, it is portable and it may just do some of the job as well. Although Fauxto may not be completely like photoshop, it does have the look and feel of Photoshop.

It has the basic picture editing feature like layers, croping, drawing tools eyedropper, fills, colour with RGB or web colour code. Enough for normal picture editing.

Other than the basic functions,  Fauxto offers different effects such as:-

  1. Blur Tool
  2. Drop Shadow
  3. Glow
  4. Sharpen
  5. Noise
  6. Emboss
  7. Enrich
  8. Grayscale
  9. Invert
  10. and much more could be listed

I will definitely use this when I need a Picture Editing Software on the go. The main benefit of this is that it is Free, Mobile and Lightweight (uses flash) enough to be used with slower computer too. Also the user interface is quite easy to use.

Although I faced a little problem having the browser hang during my trial. They should have the ability to save on real time as it will be crucial. Uploading big picture to be edited might also take some time as it is over the Internet.

Colour Picker

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 19 - 2007

Previously, I have written about Colour Picker Plugin for Firefox, which is a handy tool for web designer, webmaster, and blog owners. There are time where you need to make sure that adsense is embeded into your design, therefore, you will need to same colour.

There is a comment from korabi that installing this colour picker may take too much resources. Browsing through websites and programs, I manage to find anouther colour picker software which is free for use and it is only 580kb installation file.

ColorPic have much more function compare to the Firefox Plugin and it is a standalone software. It was easily installed on my Windows Vista. You can grab upto 16 colours at one time. The colour will be shown in RGB, CMYK, and Web Colour Code.

This is a look at the control panel, it is easy, just run the software and use ctrl+g wheneven you want to grab a colour.
