Here is a free Google Adword worth RM100. I believe it is only for new users only and it is said that only the first 100 people to sign up will receive this special offer. The weird thing is that I saw this ads being on Adsense. You will need to sign up with a credit card, usually there is some charges to register with Malaysia Credit Card, it is RM20 if I remember it correctly. It is fine as long as you remember to stop your campaign once your fund is depleted.

This is quite irritating, as youtube advertisements are actually playing before and after the video you would like to play. This new YouTube ads have no skip buttong, you will have to watch the whole 30 seconds ads.

But this would be a new channel for Internet markerter to buy some advertisements slots, and this would be limited to those who could make video advertisements.

Ride the latest Google launch, the Google Wave. I have actually gotten this last night, a little slow on the wave as I was busy and not really keeping up with stuff.

Google wave is a communication tools, and I am yet to find out about its functionality. From what I could see and try, you can share files, have conversation, do a playback on all the waves so you can basically ride the wave, sharing video and other web gadgets.

It seems that google have changed their frontpage design into a cleaner design. I kind of like the look as it does not seems to be cluttered with information. They are mainly promoting their content ads, mobile ads, search ads, and feed ads.

Mobile Adsense is something new and I don’t think they are available in Malaysia yet. Can’t wait to explore this alternative.

I would never though that Google will be affected, especially for this round of recession, but it is a fact now. Only yesterday Google announce that it will stop development of Jaiku and leave it to the hands of other developers as the code become available on Google Code under apache license. Jaiku was bought by Google more than one year ago but there was no development at all while all registration to Jaiku is invite only. Jaiku is a great microblogging platform but was never developed and promoted well enough to capture the market that it should gets.

Even sadder for Dodgeball users because Google will shut down the service permanantly. It is a a mobile social networking service that lets you share your location with friends via text message. It is only available in United States, even that, it has not conquered all states.

Other service that will probably go down is Google Video and Google Search Catalog. And Google Notebook will also be left with no further development.

With so many people dependable on Google service for their daily life to working task, we are sure that popular services will not go away and will be supported by Google Adwords. Hopefully Google will learn from their lesson and not simply buy a company then stop it from developing.

Another great finishing as Google updates its Pagerank as a belated Christmas Gift or as a 2009 gift.

This website still maintains its PR3 for one year. I am quite happy because a lot of people are having a drop instead of an increase. I actually felt that it is easier for someone new to create a website and gain a decent pagerank of 3 rather than trying to ask reconsideration from Google to get back your pagerank even though one of my website have not been selling text link and only one paid post is written (and it is removed). Even my personal blog adiwong.com that contains only 4 post had Pagerank of 2 that was not really looking forward for.

Anyhow, it is a pretty good year and hopefully 2009 will be better.

For those who are new pagerank is not that important even if you are making a website that the traffic is very much dependent on the search engine traffic as long as there is sufficient good information for people to search for your website.

The Google’s Gmail team have just introduce a new feature on gmail, which is the option to choose between different theme. It is a cool little function whereby you do not have to look at the same old boring template all day long if you are using Gmail as your daily email for business and personal.

Some theme like Beach and Summer Ocean, that will show a different theme during the day and night. Provided that you have set your location correctly for the correct timing.

It is not a big thing, but just fun to change the theme around.

I am a big fan of statistics and I used to check analytics like 10 times in an hour but shortly after, I know that it is not the way. Now I am checking and analyzing my statistics once every 1 to 3 days. Previously I have problem with analytics because I have different analytics account and also access to some of my friends blogs/websites. Previously, when you own an analytics account, other owner will not be able to share their stats with you. Therefore you will have to use another email in order to check the stats.

Today, when I check my stats, I notice some design arrangement changes and I notice a difference in the front page. I have the access to my friends statistics.

After you click on the accounts name, you will proceed to websites that are listed under the accounts.

How did you do on this pagerank update? I have my ups and down on this update. Unfortunately one of my frequently blog have a Pagerank of 0 as of today. Wahlau.NET is one of my earliest domain registered and I like the name because it is slang used in my country. I can’t figure out why does it drop from PR3 to PR0 and kept resubmiting for reconsideration after doing some alteration. Previously, I just link them back to my other websites and my company website. There is no paid link at all. Wonder how the system determine which website violates their Terms and Condition.

My 2 months old New Website is currently PR 3. Not bad for a new website. I will be expecting more submission since it is now with Pagerank and it is rank second for the keyword “Latest Websites”. It does not pass out PageRank to avoid people spamming the homepage, but would generate some traffic for some new website.

There is still no movement at all for this blog, but I am happy with PageRank of 3.

Gmail Custom Time, you could actually alter the date and time an email is sent and best of all you could set them to unread.I just found out about this new feature and there is actually good and bad to it.

Timeline of email communication is actually very crucial, I think this will actually do more harm than good. Especially in business which I use email a lot, what if you have sent someone a good, then sending them a bill which is larger saying that the new prices was already sent on a date.

Even the beta users testimonials is already saying about the harm of it.

I always think that everyone will see the same result when when Google.com is used. Your geographical location or your location for your ip will actually determines the Google result. This is actually the reason sometime I see keyword at my analytics or statcounter but I am unable to find the result in the first few page of Google.

I will take 5xmom blog as an example. She targeted the keyword “Make Money” and because I know this keyword fluctuate a lot, I did further research on different location. The blog is somehow categorize as a Malaysia site, I am guessing this because her blogs does include some Malaysia stuff.

Here is a result when I search through Google.com with my browser for “Make Money” term. You can see that her site is actually third. Which is pretty good for a 132 million keyword.

Here is a result of Google’s Ad Preview Tool for US result at Google.Com. There is no sign of 5xmom for the keyword “Make Money” up until the 100page.

When the geographical location is switch to Malaysia, it is first. But Thailand and Singapore shows slightly lower position but still on the first page.

It is pretty interesting to know that even everyone uses Google.com, it does not means that everyone will see the same result. Now the big question is how could we position ourselves at Google.com for US searches and not Malaysia searches.
