Google result for other countries

Posted by Adi Wong On April - 3 - 2008

I always think that everyone will see the same result when when Google.com is used. Your geographical location or your location for your ip will actually determines the Google result. This is actually the reason sometime I see keyword at my analytics or statcounter but I am unable to find the result in the first few page of Google.

I will take 5xmom blog as an example. She targeted the keyword “Make Money” and because I know this keyword fluctuate a lot, I did further research on different location. The blog is somehow categorize as a Malaysia site, I am guessing this because her blogs does include some Malaysia stuff.

Here is a result when I search through Google.com with my browser for “Make Money” term. You can see that her site is actually third. Which is pretty good for a 132 million keyword.

Here is a result of Google’s Ad Preview Tool for US result at Google.Com. There is no sign of 5xmom for the keyword “Make Money” up until the 100page.

When the geographical location is switch to Malaysia, it is first. But Thailand and Singapore shows slightly lower position but still on the first page.

It is pretty interesting to know that even everyone uses Google.com, it does not means that everyone will see the same result. Now the big question is how could we position ourselves at Google.com for US searches and not Malaysia searches.

Try Google Ad Preview Tool, and let me know what result you see.

Richard Branson team together with Larry Page and Sergey Brin t o form Virgle. Their plan is to fly a solar powered Noah’s Ark to Mars that look like a tuna can (and also named as tuna can on Virgle’s Website). Be a part of this adventure to mars if you think you will be eligible, it is only a 15 questions survey.

This is going to be the largest Also, check out an interview with Larry and Sergey about this venture with Virgin. Project Virgle will be an open source (how a planet becomes open source??, but I like the sound of that).

Haha, you must be thinking now, it is actually an April’s Fool Joke from our beloved Google and Virgin. Check out how Richard Branson announce it to the mobile industry. Yes it is fake.

Adsense only shows Public Ads

Posted by Adi Wong On February - 21 - 2008

I am only seeing Public Service Ads by Google on all of my homepage. My first thought was there is something wrong with my adsense setting or my website content. But after looking at my other websites, I notice that problem is most probably not at my side. I also visited Digital Point, LiewCF, 5xmom  and Sabahan to confirm this. All other websites is showing public service ads.

This is my very fist encounter with this. I went to website that customizable adsense because they are huge publisher, they had no problem with this.

Are you getting this public service ads too?

Adsense Referral – Change of Rules

Posted by Adi Wong On January - 9 - 2008

This Adsense Referral’s Change of Rules is kind of like geographicist, I thought that online advertising and publisher overseas is increase. Then why decreasing our benefits? The website says

If you’re in North America, Latin America, or Japan, the pricing structure for AdSense referrals is changing

I could only say that I am not dependant on this at all as I do not refer anyone. Oh, I did sometime back, but it did not work out well and I earned nothing. Until now, I did not try refering anyone yet. Althouth, that was my plan to include the referral on this new website when I have it established.

The amount could be pretty large if your site could refer tones of new people to sign up for adsense. There is good potential if you have the traffic and you could guide your referral to earn their first USD100 in the first 180days for your to qualified the USD250 payment.
