New Adsense

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 22 - 2007

A while ago, Digital Forum posted a new advertisement feature from Adsense. This new advertisement format is combining text link with the normal adsense block advertisements. It seems that Google have officialy launch or this is still on beta. But currently, we have no control over this type of advertisement appearing. It would be good if we could choose as this type of advetisements may not be a good match for some templates.

This is what I found on my website. Notice that there is a “Show More” button on the bottom left corner.

The only question of every single publisher is, will you click on that?

New Google Reader

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 12 - 2007

I have tried only 2 RSS reader and Google reader seems to be efficient for me. Previously, the unread feeds could only count up to 100. Now it could go upto 1000. It is weird that they are still putting a limit on the unread feeds. Since I was away for quite some time, my unread feeds goes more than 1000.

After going through some interesting feeds, I will usually mark the whole category as read.

Also, if you noticed, there is a search feature. It is actually a pretty handy tool if you are looking for something among 1000+ feeds.

Now you could embed google map to forums, blog post, website by just copying and pasting the link provided.

All you have to do is to click on “Link to this page” on the top right of the map. Then you copy the embed link.

Here is the closest look at Klang, Malaysia. We could only see the Klang river flowing into the ocean. Most cities in US have much more closer look, even upto the building and some cars.

Google is removing PageRank?

Posted by Adi Wong On August - 21 - 2007

Pagarank will be define by some webmaster as totatly useless number whom other webmaster are trying to gain. PageRank currently is a way to determine a website value, an ads value in a particular website or price of a link.

Although there is different alternatives to determine the value of the website such as Alexa, Technorati Ranking (only for blogs)and Compete, pagerank is one of the hardest to manipulate and I would say pretty fair. Definately there are people using Blackhat technique to manipulate Pagerank succesfully, but overall it is quite good and effective.

Webmaster spend months and years trying to get higher pagerank that increase the value of their website. Pagerank is update usually 4 times a year, but the exact time and date is never known.

Now the main discussion is to determine if Google is serious about removing Pagerank. You could see that people discussing in Digital Point intensely.

My thoughts on this is that Google would not remove this Pagerank algorithm. My reasoning:-

  • Open up opportunity for other search engine
  • After all the hardwork, Google is willing to cut off its matemathician
  • How is Google going to rank all websites now?

Anyway, you won’t know what Google is up to next.
