I told you so!

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 15 - 2008

Despite everyone saying that our Malaysian online advertising network, Advertlets are not paying, I still gave them a try and accumulated the minimum payment of RM100. This is because I still see some prominent blogger who promotes their service. My payment is now 2 and a half months due from the day I ask for my payment.

Here is what I have copied out from the FAQ, it seems that they do have the intention not paying or delaying the payment indefinitely because there is no mention of the processing time taken (I though I recall seeing some processing time)

When will I receive my money after I request a cashout?

By default we pay all publishers by check. After your account has accumulated exactly or more than RM100, you will see a cashout button. Once you’ve requested a cashout, we will send your check via mail for Malaysian publishers and Air mail for our Intern

As of today, Oct 15,2008, my payment status remains unpaid.

Did erase my username and shorten the bar so that it could be inserted on this blog easily.

I would guess that they will claim that I have click fraud and it is under investigation therefore it is slow (this is what I have read from other blog comments).

The good thing is that I have switch to other advertisements network after I got my minimum RM100 because of all the rumours. I guess I am not going back then.

Kontera is doing Well

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 14 - 2008

Kontera is actually a in-text ads for your website or blog. And after a month of installing Kontera on 2 of my blogs. It is actually getting a small constant earning, although it is not a big sum but it is a stable income. Especially for this blog, Kontera is great compare to my other ads.

I would suggest bloggers to give it a try because it actually does not take up extra advertisements space like other sort of advertisements. Also, I do rarely see any advertisements appearing on my website, it may be due to my geographical location that less advertisements are showing.

Find Website Jobs

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 6 - 2008

It seems like a great idea to list web jobs on the web. For those who are living in developing countries and have the knowledge to program or design will have great opportunity to earn some good money. The reason why I have mentioned developing countries is because they would require less pay to get the same job done.

For those website developers, programmers or web designers, this is a great opportunity to look for some side income.

This website is fairly new, therefore there is limited job. Posting a website job on this website is free, therefore very soon you will see a bigger list of jobs posting.

Adsense on RSS Feeds

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 5 - 2008

Previously I wrote about having adsense on your rss feeds. The process is simple, you just need to email adsense-support-aff@google.com with your Feedburner ID and your Google Adsense email account. I got my reply the next day.

Once you got your confirmation from Google, you should see an email with the following:-

Success! As you requested, we have migrated your FeedBurner account to
your requested Google account.

Proceed to Adsense Setup > Get Ads and click on “Adsense for Feeds”. You could set them up very quickly because the function is quite limited. You will choose from

  • Adtype : Image / Text Ads / Both
  • Frequency : Each Feed / Every 2nd Feed / Every 3rd Feed / Every 4th Feed
  • Post Length :  Feed appearing for post with longer than 50 words or higher
  • Position : Top of Bottom of Feeds
  • Color : I opt for Adsense Optimization feed ad color
  • Channel : Create a channel for tracking purposes
  • Add Feed : Choose the feeds you want to have adsense

You are all done. After migration this process simply takes 3 minutes to set them up. There is no copying and pasting of code.

Also you will notice that feeds are migrate to http://feedproxy.google.com/xxxx (xxxx replace with your feedburner address). Both http://feeds.feedburner.com/riceblogger and http://feedproxy.google.com/riceblogger is working fine with me.

Chitika show only White Background

Posted by Adi Wong On August - 28 - 2008

I have recently signed up with Chitika in my journey to try different method to moneytize my blog. I have blog that are targeted towards worldwide audiance but at the same time, Malaysia audiance. Because of the theme used is not a white background, I had to get Chitika to blend into my theme.

With various attempts to change the background color and pasting the code into my theme. I concluded that there shouldn’t be any mistake on my part. An email to Chitika verify the following:-

The colors will not show up properly to anyone from an unsupported country (we only support traffic from the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, UK, and The United States). Users in an “unsupported” country will see a default ad unit.

As a result, my homepage still look like this to me because I am located in Malaysia.

I think I am going to pull this off because I have other nation who visits my blog and it surely does not look nice.
