Marketing Through Social Networking Sites

Posted by Adi Wong On March - 19 - 2009

It seems to me that more and more companies are using social networking sites, especially Facebook to do marketing. Personally I had some groups on Facebook that is somehow related to some of my websites, however I never really did any promotion on my websites other than putting the link on the group.

Prior to facebook, I do have some account on Friendster that targets towards a geographical location. This is because I was poor and had to utilize every Internet marketing technique I can do that will not cost me money, this was one of the method used. I would post some updates on the bulletin. I believe that it does bring some users, however I am unable to track them.

One obvious observation is to when my friends started organizing an events at Facebook to his restaurant’s Grand Opening at Jaya 1. More than 200+ people turned up to his restaurant opening. And the opening ceremony did pretty well, with people flooding the restuarant. Plus it is quite easy to invites friends that are not so close to you and you are shy to call them one by one.

Convert Image and Documents to PDF via Email

Posted by Adi Wong On March - 3 - 2009

If you have images or microsoft word documents to be converted to PDF format, try out Koolwire. I have used KoolWire for quite some time as they are very convenient and easy to use. All you need to do is to attach your documents in your email and send them to pdf@koolwire.com. Yup, that is all you need to do, and after that wait for around a minute, you should get your pdf documents sent back to your email.

I like this service because I do not need any application to be installed or going to a website in order to convert some documents. Plus, it is free to use.

Pligg Review

Posted by Adi Wong On December - 11 - 2008

I have a new website that is running on Pligg. Pligg is a great digg clone software but there is some problem with the content management system. Therefore it is very hard to manage users and content. My site is getting some traffic from all the SEO and promotion that I did, unfortunately I am currently facing problem with spams and it is getting out of control.

Control of user and content
It is very hard to control because there is no mass user management panel whereby you can delete or ban any user. The interface is slow if you were to delete / killspam one user by a time. This goes the same with posting of content. Although there is mass disabling but it is still slow when you get 200 spam post.

Bugs
I think there is still a lot of bugs in their javascript whereby some click on the username actually does not work for me.

Deleting from MySQL
Deleting from MySQL also poses a problem when the user deleted have a post, therefore both content and user have to be deleted form MySql. I did that for the 200 spam that I receives, hopefully it does not poses any problem in the later state.

Email Verification
I believe that it is really missing this function. Email verification is quite important to prevent spammer from posting. Hopefully the upcoming pligg version 10.0.0 will fix all this problem.

Upgrades
I did upgrade once and the template was totally gone therefore everything have to be done all over again. They should try to fix this as well.

Alternative
I am now considering Drigg, if anyone have any experience. It seems to be solid because it is actually running on drupal.

eBook Learning

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 31 - 2008

I have actually got quite a lot of eBook in my stash because of an Internet Marketing Bootcamp that I have joined earlier this year. Too many that I did not even had the time to look into each and every one of them. Recently I just had my daughter (yes, 1 month old now) and because we are new in this, we have bought quite some books from MPH and our local bookstores to do some readings on the parenting and pregnancy. Then later I found out that I have this Baby First Year Guide ebook when I accidentally search my desktop. Took a glimpse at the book and found out that it is quite complete. It provides quite similar information compare to one of the book I had bought for like RM88.50 (approximately USD25.29). This Baby ebook is actually filled with 209 pages of great information.

Therefore I have started this ebook learning site that sells some of the eBook that I have resell rights to at a fraction of the cost compare to an actual physical book. Remember that I have paid over RM3000 for this course for these ebooks and it is selling for very very cheap price.

I will be giving out some free ebooks too, I will need to sort out some eBooks that could be given out for free. Therefore remember to stay tuned for more ebooks.

Remember to visit eBook Learning website.
