Bottom Sliding Advertisements

Posted by Adi Wong On October - 20 - 2008

Have you ever seen an advertisements sliding upwards only after the page loads for few seconds? I have personally seen this on Sitepoint and I think it is good way of getting exposure at at the same time not as annoying as popup because it still does not disturb the page you are viewing.

This cool little script, catfish is actually made by Ian Purton, and it uses iframe to implement the advertisements sliding from the bottom. There is few command which you could after the way you want your advertisements to appear, including sliding time, delay, url, height and increment per millisecond.

I am still having trouble embeding this onto my blog because it seems that there is error on IE7 only on Wordpress. This script would run normally onto a html. I think there is something that could not run concurrently with wordpress.

If you are interested to implement this onto your websites.

Feel free to check out the tutorial on how to make a bottom sliding advertisements. It is very easy to implement. Just need to run the javascript and have your bottom sliding advertisements on another html file.

Microsoft Outlook Plugin

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 12 - 2008

Have you used Microsoft Outlook for your company email that receives like few hundred each day? We are suppose to get third party spam filters and they load so slowly that archive need to be made every few weeks. This is one of the reason for most small company to switch their company email to Google Mail with their domain because of the spam filters, clearer view and faster search features.

However, this may be your chance to switch back to Microsoft outlook with this new outlook plugin, Xobni. It look very neat and fit nicely into your outlook if you were using the vertical view.

It provides:-

  • Faster Search
  • Email Analytics
  • Threaded conversations
  • Phone Extract
  • Quick Attachment Discovery
  • Scheduling your task
  • Better Navigation by navigating through people

Here is a nice video of how Xobni works.

There is even a video of Mr Gates promoting it

Dropbox Invites

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 9 - 2008

I got dropbox invites a while ago and have been using it to share files between my home desktop, notebook and office desktop PC. It is sometimes troublesome to get files transfer here and there. Dropbox (or GetDropBox.com) provides the same experience as sharing files between local network.

It basically look and feel exactly like your local PC. Best things is that it works with Vista and Windows XP. You can even access the file properties, copy, paste, or edit the file directly from the Dropbox without having to copy them to your computer first.

After editing, you can simply access anywhere with any computer that have internet access and web browser that complies to dropbox requirements..

I have shared my RiceBlogger theme in my Dropbox account. You can download it here.

There is some invitest to spare, if you need one to try it out, leave me a comment here.

Remember, while stock last.
