Google Pagerank Movement again

Posted by Adi Wong On November - 17 - 2007

There was some change from Google this week again. I believe that the algorithm is changing and that causes the movement. Google is trying to perfect their mathemathics equation for PageRank so that there is little to no black hat in cheating PageRank.

Most of the site who had movement end up having PageRank of 0 (yes, a round egg), no one gain as far as I know from this movement. Here is some of the PageRank 0 websites. This post was mainly targeting at PayPerPost Blogger, but I am not really sure. Anyhow, PPP is trying to start their own IZEA RealRank to rank their own blogger. This may not be official, but you can check your RealRank here. I got a 50/100 (that is PR 5, if that is true).

RealRank algorithm is very simple

70% weighted towards visitors per day
20% weighted towards amount of ACTIVE inbound links per day
10% weighted towards pageviews per day

I will be updating my post about Blogs with Top Commentators Wordpress Plugins as there is a lot of changes in the list. This list will be updated, I am waiting for this movement to calm down. All of the PR2 blogs did not survive this movement, I have no idea why.

This is my first time here.

    Interesting info.

The google pagerank has their own method of ranking the websites/blogs etc and that made us wandering…

Izea’s method is interesting and fair. I like it. It considers a lot of other contributing factors and not just aiming on one aspect only.

Bottom line, we need to improve our site/blog no matter how those parties rank us…..At the end it’s our site/blog and we want it to rank the best on all the rank checker….and all search engine…ain’t it?

superhero w: I think it hs very hard now comparing to mess with the big G or to earn money. New bloggers have much choice not to follow the correct road, but income may come in very slow.

zaki: I am glad that you find this post good. You are absolutely correct about it. All ranking will be important but if someone can manipulate the rank by money, it may not be good.

    Oh…mine drop to PR0, :(

  6. Jayce says:

He… He… I think I am the lucky one. Google just gave me PR4. :P

  7. Adi Wong says:

Wing Loon: I see a PR1…I am interested to know the cause, but I notice that you do not have PPP…only kontera and I think kontera is okay..

Jayce: good for your…keep up the good work

My blog doesn’t have any ads, but i still get PR N/A. When i can really get a number? Even PR0 is better than PR N/A, right?

  9. Adi Wong says:

dicky: please learn before you comment, you have commented this same question in my other post and I have your answer there. PR drop is related to having text link ads, payperpost and some other sponsored ads, but not all advertisements will cause your pagerank to drop. PR increase is a result of incoming links of relavant website. You may have Pagerank 0 even you have no ads because you have no incomming links to your homepage.

Although I personally find this whole PR drama to be blown out of proportions, I have to question the practicality of RealRank as well.

PageRank, as flawed as it may be, could in one way or another gauge how significantly your site would ranked in Google’s search results. RealRank, on the other hand, has absolutely no bearing on search results; an important source of organic traffic for most sites.

So what if a web site has a RealRank of 100 but couldn’t be found via search engines? What use would this number be then?

  11. Adi Wong says:

Azmeen: Actually I have the same thought, but I guess 100 RealRank would means you have the highest earning potential for PPP.

PageRank will still be important for me, still highly weighted compare to this Izea RealRank

  12. [...] seems that previous post about RealRanker is actually not officially by IZEA. IZEA is actually starting their own RealRank to support PayPerPost as previouly post requirements [...]

Ahhhh the Google algorithm, what a mystery. I really wish someone was able to figure it all out. We bloggers would be so much better off. Never heard of RealRank until reading about it here so I will make sure to check it all out. They seem to have a pretty straight forward formula for calculating page rank.

I have found this post while searching Google and I am glad I found it. I have submitted my site directory, article but not getting any PR so what should i do? and also i want know when google page ranks updated ?

I went to the site that you have provided to check my RealRank, the truthfulness of the results is highly questionable! I wrote to various sites, but the result is the same RealRank = 0
