Passive Income

Posted by Adi Wong On December - 9 - 2008

One of the biggest reason I started blogging and investing in online websites is because I know there is residual income. A lot of people are trying to sell you stuff like Network Marketing/Multi Level Marketing (MLM) then say that it has residual income but I felt that it is a total lie. The beauty of MLM is that they made you pay in order to work for them and the make you buy their stuff too. Yar, there is people who made it to the top and how we wish that we become one of them who drives nice cars with polished shoe.

Despite the difference, there is also similarity whereby it is hard to start off slow, and if you make it to the top, you will enjoy the true money in this industry. Networking is one of the key to success, you do not have to meet face to face, just need to be connecting with others blogger/internet marketer.

What is passive income?
As defined by wikipedia, it is a rent received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it. Note the little effort, because you still need to maintain and update your blog/website.

The reason why a blog/website could generate you a passive income is because each of your previous post is potentially earn you some money. And if you have 1 million articles that generates you 1 cent, you are doing great, provided that the articles are great information that is distinct from others. This is also the reason why you would not earn any money when you start a blog. Although there is ways to speed up the process by investing and doing lots of marketing.

  1. That’s what I love about adsense – they’re almost just set and forget type sites (although they still need a small amount of ongoing health checks)

  2. Hi Adi,

    Interesting point of view.

True MLM should have a strong product base. It should emphasis on their product benefits rather than recruiting downlines. If the opportunity is emphasizing more on recruiting people, there is high possibility it is a pyramid scam.

Yes, I totally agree. That’s the best thing about blogging- that money comes in when we sleep. Articles that I’ve written more than a year ago is still generating income. As you say, even though the article only brings in 1 cent, with volume, we make up the amount.
