I have just joined DealDotCom this morning at 3am. This is my very first time participating in a affiliate program, after reading many others who made great deal of money online via Affiliate Program.

One of the potential I see in DealDotCom is their 2-tier program as you get paid even your friends’ friends buy the product. Which maybe useful for those who do not have time to promote a specific product. This may be the reason which will make it a huge success.

First-tier sales gets 35% of the DealDotCom’s profit and 2nd-tier sales is 15% of DealDotCom’s profit.

Jaiku improves your search engine ranking

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 16 - 20071 COMMENT

I have used Jaiku for sometime now and I find it very useful and it is a wonderful microblogging platform. You are able to have your network of friends whereby you share your message and online feeds. It gets quite a good exposure for your blog post because it is also a feed aggregator. If you click Explore, you will see the most recent updates, and it is actually update quite frequently. My Jaiku profile is http://8dee.jaiku.com, once joined, remember to add me to your contact.

Here is a look my Jaiku screen. It is very easy to browse around and not much functions, but they have open up their API, which allows developers to make their add-on to Jaiku.

One of the reason why I say that Jaiku improves your search engine ranking is because I tried it and some of my page is actually listed on Google via Jaiku links.

If you search for “Cartoonize your portrait” on Google, you will see that the first link is from Jaiku.com, and it is from my feeds. Since this domain is newly registered, less than 2 month, it will not be easy to get in front of 2.1 million page.

Be in my Jaiku contact list by adding my profile at: http://8dee.jaiku.com

Wordpress Auto Update

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 15 - 20075 COMMENTS

It seems that every now and the wordpress will update a newer version. It is quite troublesome if you end up having more than 1 wordpress blog. It will be especially hard when there is more than one hosting server. Wordpress Auto Update actually makes the job easy. Rather than doing the following steps for a normal upgrade.

  1. Delete your old WP files, saving ones you’ve modified.
  2. Upload the new files.
  3. Point your browser to /wp-admin/upgrade.php.
  4. You wanted more, perhaps? That’s it!

Now you just have to provide the script with your ftp information. Everything else will be done by the plugin.

Wordpress Auto Update will perform the following:-

1. Backs up the files and makes available a link to download it.
2. Backs up the database and makes available a link to download it.
3. Downloads the latest files from http://wordpress.org/latest.zip and unzips it.
4. Puts the site in maintenance mode.
5. De-activates all active plugins and remembers it.
6. Upgrades wordpress files.
7. Gives you a link that will open in a new window to upgrade installation.
8. Re-activates the plugins.

I have tried this in one of my blogs and it works like a charm upgrading to Wordpress 2.2.3.

Have you done it yet?

My Windows Vista Review

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 14 - 2007ADD COMMENTS

It have been a busy week after coming back from a 10 days trip. Things have been piling up and new things have been coming up. Also, I have gotten the chance to introduce my new little piece of gadget to the wrold. HP dv2614xt.

This is my brand new laptop, and it comes with vista. I will come back with the review on this laptop very soon when I get the hang of it. I would still say that XP is still the best OS, as a normal human being who are reluctant to change when I am familiar with something in my life.

Graphically, things look great with Windows Vista, the effects are great and everything is pretty sleek. The only problem with this is that we pay the price with some slight lagging. I feel it when it minimize and maximize between browsers and programs.

There is one important shortcut that I am unable to locate, How do you shutdown Windows Vista? What I used to do is ctrl+esc > u > s > enter. Now it is gone, and I have to click this small button below. See the small right arrow and then “shut down”.

WARNING: Do not click the button on the left of the Lock (it will only hibernate the computer)

Start button have changed quite a bit, the programs could be search, therefore there is no need to look for single programs, even clicking on programs will only show you a small list with scroller to browse through a huge list of program (strongly not recomended). There is good and bad to this, just need some time to get use to this.

Here is a printscreen of the desktop

This is the inevitable vista coolness

New Google Reader

Posted by Adi Wong On September - 12 - 2007ADD COMMENTS

I have tried only 2 RSS reader and Google reader seems to be efficient for me. Previously, the unread feeds could only count up to 100. Now it could go upto 1000. It is weird that they are still putting a limit on the unread feeds. Since I was away for quite some time, my unread feeds goes more than 1000.

After going through some interesting feeds, I will usually mark the whole category as read.

Also, if you noticed, there is a search feature. It is actually a pretty handy tool if you are looking for something among 1000+ feeds.
