I am usually delighted to see comment when I enter into my dashboard, as it is always good to hear others opinion or feedback regarding a post. But with Top Commentator Wordpress Plugin installed, there will be someone out there who take advantage of this in the wrong manner. Lucky for blogger who use wordpress, it takes less than a minute to moderate most of my comments each day.
Personally, I would not approve some comments base on some criteria:-
Keyword as the Name – This are the type of comment I would take note. I do not flag out all keyword, but if their comment are short and meaningless. This would go to either my trash or spam. Sometime, I would just remove the website url.
Commenting Time – Yes, we could see the time. If you comment too fast and short, the chances you are here to only look for a link.
Commenting with different URL – This is what I have seen recently, someone who came into my blog and comment in few post but with different url (same domain). We could see your IP as well even if you use a different name.
URL for porn, scam or illegal downloads – This would go into spam immediately even if your comment looks great.
Have you encounter any funny comments? How did you manage them?

I havent had any funny comments, but I do seem to get my share of spam comments. Of course I just delete them. I don’t know why people bother spamming. Do they not realize it is a waste of time? Is it really that difficult to add a worthwhile comment?
I don’t mind if people use a keyword as the username, unless of course the url they use links to porn, online pharmacies (I seem to get alot of those), or anything else in bad taste.
Funny to say that on this post alone I had ” Bryan Hee” commenting with 2 different url (and it is an affiliate link) on different post with the following message.
Great to know that how you moderate readers comments. I like comment on blogs that related to my “niche market” to generate amount of traffic to my website. It’s 100% Free and “targeted”. Of course i won’t “spam” to get traffic by only saying “great post” or well done”
To your success
